DANCE STEPS USED:   Back mayim, kicks (fast/slow pace)

CHOREOGRAPHY: Traditional

 

This is a lovely traditional Jewish dance popular at social functions. It can be danced at a medium pace or fast and to a variety of different music. (A very similar dance is popular in Greece as 'Zorba's dance').

 

Steps:

Travelling CW

L foot steps to the side, R foot steps behind, L foot steps to the side

R foot kicks in front of L foot and returns to position, L foot kicks in front of R foot and returns to position

R foot steps behind L foot, L foot steps to the side

R foot kicks in front of L foot and returns to position, L foot kicks in front of R foot and returns to position

 

Repeat

 

When dancing fast, as you kick, it is nice to hop on the grounded foot.

 

Various hand movements can be used with this dance from hands on shoulders to linked hands or linked using handkerchief scarves.
